Taking the girl's constant smile, he let go of that breath. When she flew up to him it really hadn't occurred to him that he would have to say something. Let alone explain why he didn't wave when she did. How would he explain that it felt awkward being waved at by someone you didn't know, but shared something in common with?

"I-uh, well, I don't know." he half blurted out. "But your chest-I mean you have it like I do." pointing his symbol as he talked. "It's different but it's just..." This was going swimmingly. "I thought you might be someone who-"

'Who what?' he asked himself mentally. 'Who knows what this all means and what I'm supposed do because of it?.

"I really don't know why I have it." he said looking down at his feet which had a of empty space between him and the ground far, far below. "I thought you might know."

"The crest?" She said, now even more curious. Had he not spoken to Superman then? The young man seemed to be as lost on it as she was. "It's a family symbol" She told him "I know it looks like an 'S' but it actually is the mark of the House of El. Supermans family. Uhm...I'm not actually a member." She added the last part with a note of embarrassment. "Someone you know kind of made me this way but not really since I'm actually a daxomite it turns out but anyway I talked to Superman and he said it was okay to keep using the symbol and all that."

"You don't know where you got it from? Maybe someone uhm...you know...like with me maybe they messed around with your genetic code?"

"No. I know where I got it from." his tone all too despondent. "I just wasn't sure what it stood for." Where did he recognize the word daxamite from? There was something in the back of his mind that was trying hard to find the memory associated with it, but apparently it was too long ago to draw up just then. "Messing with my genetic code is another way to put it. They made me to be Superman." Now he was sure she wasn't going to take any of this well. "These...people" for lack of a worse word. "used Superman's DNA along with, well I don't know with what, to create me." There was no explanation he could find for why he was telling her so much. Maybe the fact that she seemed genuinely friendly. Not many smiles have been sent in his direction.

Looking down at that symbol that meant family, or at least the family of Kal-El. "Sounds like something nice." Feeling like some kind of imposter just got a lot worse now that he knew what it stood for. "How did you get yours?" he asked trying to justify to himself that maybe, just maybe it was all right to keep wearing it. She seemed nice enough and he suddenly thought maybe those who weren't from Superman's family wore black and red. Subconsciously?

Mia pondered what he was telling her. Of course what he was saying made sense. If someone was to attempt something like that there was no way they wouldn't try it twice, maybe even multiple times! Still the idea that someone else would be put through that was heartbreaking to her. Her first instinct was to hug him, the way Kal-El had when she found out that her family was gone. But she'd only just met this man and he might not be comfortable with that level of physical contact, so she restrained herself thoughtfully.

Before she knew it he was asking about her own crest. With relief she folded her legs underneath her body. "I used to be a normal girl you know. Well, I thought I was normal anyway. What I mean is; I didn't know I was a daxamite until after all of this happened" she waved her hands around her body in an exaggerated manner. "But I got in a car crash on my first road trip with my friends and while I was in the hospital someone found out what I really was and when I came out of the coma-- oh yeah I was in a coma after the crash sorry-- anyway after I woke up they took me to their facility where they added Kal-El's DNA to mine and jump started my powers with a focused charge of solar radiation and 'woosh' here I am". She grinned sheepishly and finally added "Didn't work out too well for them though. I kind of shot out of the compound like a bullet and careened all the way to new york where Spiderman helped me crash land in a river."

"You too?" he blurted out when he learned that she was infused with Superman's DNA also. Just how many attempts were actually made on cloning the man of steel anyway? From out of the blue his mind ringed up daxamite like a rolodex. Still in the tube where he floated serenely, his eyes closed but acutely aware of his surroundings, he remembered the mention of daxamites who were similar to kryptonians and the idea of possibly utilizing them should he fail as a subject. Perhaps they really did move on to that now that he was free of captivity?

“Lucky there was someone to help you.” Spider-Man was a new one for him, but it was hardly a surprise. Quite a few meta humans and empowered beings seemed to be in abundance. Discovering which ones you could trust and which ones you couldn’t was the most difficult issue. She, on the other hand, seemed like someone trustworthy. “Um, I’m-uh Superboy. At least that’s what I’ve been called.” Extending his hand forward was a little strange since it was the first time he had to shake someone’s hand. “Well, that’s not true. I’ve been called Kon-El too, but I’m not too sure what it means.”

Not yet anyway.’ he thought to himself.

"Well it sounds like a nice name to me. I don't speak kryptonian so I don't know what it means either sorry." Mia smiled apologetically and took his hand in hers. "They called me Cir-El. I don't have uhm...a super-name. So I've just been going by that when I'm you know 'heroing' and stuff". She pursed her lips together and thought for a moment. "Do you have a civillian name? Like...what do people call you when you're not suited up?" An errant breeze blew by, dusting her hair and shoulder with snow that she didn't notice thanks to their altered biology.

She wasn't at all sure whether she should tell him her secret identity or not. On the one hand; Kal-El told her she had to protect it. On the other hand; Kara had said that for a while she tried not to have a secret identity at all. Mia had thought of that and couldn't imagine spending 24 hrs a day as Cir-El.

"A fake name? No, I don't have any name really." he said as he glanced around in thought, in which he saw that someone had finally looked up and noticed both of them in the air. "But the name El has been coming up a lot lately." A small crowd was starting to build, pointing and all. Once more he was starting to feel like he was in a zoo. "What do you do with this kind of power?" There was little he did since he had escaped from N.O.W.H.E.R.E.. Before he had done what they wanted, some of that work was less than savory.

"What? It's not a fake name. I mean, if someone gives you a name there isn't anything fake about it. My Mom gave me my other name y'know?" She scratches her head a little. It seems like this boy has had a much rougher time than she did. Did he even get a normal life before they did that stuff to him? She felt like the answer was probably no. "Hey, let's go somewhere else!" She said when she noticed the crowd below. She gave them a quick wave and a friendly smile and then motioned with her hand for him to follow her. There was a place she loved to go when she had other metahumans to hang out with. Or sometimes if she wanted to think.

"With my power? I try to help people who need it. That's the only thing there is to do about it right? I mean, I guess you could become evil but who wants to do that?" As she spoke she glided through the drifting snow and wind until she could see a little flicker of gold in the distance. And just beyond that would be the massive green head of the Statue of Liberty.

Before he could tell her no one had given him a civilian name she recommended a new place. Accepting her invitation he flew after her in the gray sky, leaving behind the onlookers.

"There are plenty of people that would. A lot of them already have I think." With the encounters he had with other powered beings, it was easy to come to the conclusion that being evil was definitely an option many had taken or at least considered. "I've had to deal with a few of those that chose not to help people." recalling the fight he had with a couple that had gone down that path.

As they continued their flight over New York he saw where she was headed: The Statue of Liberty towered into the sky. "That wasn't the place I was expecting." For some reason he was expecting something far more remote.

Cir-El laughed musically. "It was rhetorical. I know there are people that choose to be awful with their powers." As she spoke they arrived at their destination and she allowed herself to touch down on the top of the statues head, folding her legs underneath and taking a quick seat. "Well, it's no Fortress of Solitude I'll give you that. But I've found this is a great place for relative privacy when needed." She patted a spot near her with her hand.
